About Donna Taylor

Donna Taylor is an internationally award winning Australian stippling artist, widely regarded as one of Australia's most distinctive and celebrated fine art illustrators. Based in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Donna creates breathtaking works of art using the ancient technique of stippling, also known as pointillism or dotwork, building every single piece entirely freehand, dot by dot, without a single line traced.

The art of stippling

Stippling is one of the most demanding and meditative art forms in existence. There are no shortcuts, no undoing and no rushing. Every illustration Donna creates is built from thousands upon thousands of individual ink dots, layered with extraordinary patience and precision to create depth, texture, light and life. Each piece takes between 40 and 200 hours to complete, and every detail, from the softest strand of fur to the most delicate facial expression, exists entirely because of dots.

Nothing is traced. Nothing is rushed. Everything is intentional.

The Dots by Donna signature style

Donna's signature style is instantly recognisable. Her iconic half face animal portraits invite you to lean in, to imagine the rest of the story, to feel a connection with the creature staring back at you. From beloved Australian wildlife including koalas, wombats, kangaroos and echidnas, to the majestic animals of Africa including lions, leopards, giraffes and elephants, to the depths of the ocean with sea turtles, hammerhead sharks and spotted eagle rays, every Dots by Donna piece carries its own personality, its own name and its own world.

Donna's illustrations are all completely original and come with a life of their own. Her fine art prints are produced on 310gsm Canson Arches 88 Rag archival paper using Giclee printing methods and archival inks, acid free and fade resistant, guaranteed to last 120 years and beyond. These are not just prints. They are family heirlooms.

A published author

In 2023 Donna partnered with Lake Press publishing to release her first illustrated children's book, Dots by Donna: The Animal Alphabet Book, a beautifully crafted A to Z journey through the animal kingdom, illustrated entirely in Donna's signature stippling style. The book was an instant hit with families across Australia and internationally, celebrating both the wonder of animals and the magic of Donna's unique artistic technique.

Originally from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Donna built her name and her loyal collector community over more than a decade of dedication to her craft. In 2023 Donna and her family made the move to Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, bringing Dots by Donna to one of Australia's most beautiful and creative coastal communities.

Today Donna sells exclusively online, shipping her fine art prints and original artworks worldwide, with collectors across Australia, the United States, Europe and beyond proudly displaying her work in their homes.
